Butterfly's most popular Carbon racket of all time. Cypress outer, Carbon secondary and Balsa inner ply, best suited for power-shots. For loopers, Fair Chack recommended. Large for a medium head-size blade. Squared, flared handle.

Being a fast ply, control is the part where you compromise .you just cannot afford to play with gergely and old/dead rubber .So, frequent rubber changes are quite necessary with this ply.If you do not switch to new rubber quickly or cannot afford to do so then go for another ply which is not as fast as this one or you will start experiencing problem with service recieving and drives on back spin.Well with a new rubber this is the weapon of choice for offensive players who like to start with backhand or forehand loop and finish the rally with drives. It also gives you advantages over blocks if you have proper control as the block from this bat goes pretty faster than other bats. This ply performs all things expected from a fast ply, above all you enjoy playing with this ply as loops and drives become so smooth and comes naturally to you when start with this ply.this ply is for those who know their style very well and also knows the weakness(service recieve, short placements, short forehand block on loop)) and strengths of this ply.Above all a legendary carbon ply and still my favourite.

I started playing in 1992. At that time Gergely blade was best the money could buy. All top players used it. It was also the most expensive blade on the market, costed around 300$ !!! When I finaly got my hands on one, combined it with BTY Sriver FX it was realy something different. 16 years after I still haven't found a blade that could match this one. Pure perfection

The Butterfly gergely is a blade not many know about that i think is a phenomenal blade. It is really hard and heavy, and includes carbon fiber. this makes all the shots realy fast, but the balsa wood also gives you pretty good control, making a deadly combination.
the weight is pretty even distributed, it does not feel head heavy or handle heavy. The outer plies are hard, but the inner plies are soft, so you elastic, explosive shots but without compromising much control because of the inner plies. Additionally, the vibrations are really small, so it does not strain your wrist as much as other harder blades.
Overall, i definitely recommend offensive players to try this blade out.

I owned an old Gergely(not the new version)some years ago but I traded it and nowadays I regret about the trade.
If I´m not wrong it´s the first carbon blade by butterfly, but nodawadays it´s looks old-fashioned and the new version doesn´t convince me really. Handle is uncomfy and wide for for me. It´s indeed very head heavy, thick, and way stiff, and weight is not 80grms, but also 95+. Suitable blade for experience and agressive players, not for most of the amateurs and human beings. Will be a nice combo with short pimples playing close to the table or Soft-med rubber (FX´S).

One of Butterfly's most popular blades, I've had 3 Gergely's in my TT lifetime. The racquet is rather head heavy and the handle is larger than usual - would be comfortable for bigger hands but a bit uneasy for the smaller ones...the 3 I've had I had to sand the handle down. The handle's angled edges might pose a problem for some too - i sanded mine as well.
The racquet is a very fast one, but with a little bit of dwell time. Quite durable as well. Ideal for the power looper and smasher as its head-heaviness will generate more power for you.
