Tenergy 05 (Butterfly)

Tenergy 05 (Butterfly)

This is the first rubber to feature Butterfly’s new “Spring Sponge”. Spring Sponge feels hard yet its new technology allows it to hold the ball on the racket longer. Tenergy 05 combines this new explosive sponge with a new tensioned top-sheet with maximum surface grip.

The result is a rubber that produces massive amounts of spin on serves and topspin drives. Tenergy is also the fastest most explosive rubber in our line all without the use of any speed-glues or tuning. Tenergy will keep its speed throughout the life of the rubber without need for any special treatments. Finally a rubber that will make you feel like you are playing in the days of the 38 mm ball again!

It is a good rubber, or even a classic rubber. Good control while having high speed but not sacrificing a lot of spin. I think it will be ideal for soft blades. One disadvantage is that high speed only appear when hitting hard.

One of the best rubber for spin and speed. Serves are also very spinny with T05. But I found it's hard to control this monster. It's not very tolerant and the ball can land anywhere, out of the table or into the net, when you make just a slight mistake. Short game is not good, but not bad, either. Smash and loopdrive are super hard to control, perhaps because of the "spring sponge". Very durable, I've played mine for 4 months now and it is still in good condition. I think this rubber is better for a control-loop game, like Timo Boll's.

This rubbers is awesome!
is fast, it has an incredible spin and you have control of the game near the table with this rubber.
Is great to serve and to looping but isnīt good to chop.
It requires a good blade and practice, to play well with this rubber :)

in my opinion, tenergy 05 is the best looping rubber to have. i like using this on amultart and mizutani blades. it is very good characteristic to loop on your forehand. it is very fast, as fast as speed glued rubbers. the topsheet is not very tacky, so it does no have max spin, but more than enough to do very deep spinny loops. the angle the ball hits off the rubber is very high, noticeably higher than most other rubbers. this makes tenergy 05 a very good rubber for looping underspin balls, because you can really lift it up and over teh net. it is okay for blocking, a little hard to control if you do not have good feeling.

The Tenergy 05 is an excepcional rubber. It's very spin frienly, it's powerful, but you can control the ball with it easily.
It's definitly the best rubber for the speed glue ban era.
If you are looking for an offensive rubber for your top spin or looping style of play, the 05 will be the right answer for you.

No, I didn't liked it very much. The throw was to high, and the sponge to hard.
The first loop and serves are great, but after that I couldn't do much. Blocking was ok, a bit difficult at the beginning but you will get used to it quite quickly.

Flicks were ok, although difficult to master because of the high trhow.

If you don't mind a high throw rubber with a lot of spin it is a good rubber. if you want to play fast, and have a lower throw this isn't the rubber for you.

The Tenergy series really rocks! This rubber really shines in respect to spin, speed and catapult. The high trow angle makes it easy to initiate attack, the spin and speed can cause your opponent serious problems. When playing this rubber, the blade is a crucial issue. For a topspin player (and that's who tis rubber is for) who plays with serious amount of spin and feeling, I would suggest a Photino, than the catapult effect makes it an outstanding combination and the ability to generate massive spin is unique. More direct players and hard hitters may prefer it on a Amultart, though I think for such a guy the spin qualities are not needed. Only downside to me is that it is sensitive to incoming spin when you are not active. This needs real expertise and you have to play a very active block play (meaning tiny counterloops) at least. A must try! If it doesn't play well, think of changing the blade.

I thought that the hype about tenergy was to much but i have to admit that it is an exceptional rubber,
Its a medium to hard sponge and the speed is amazing, it is very controlable also in short gameplay and the spin is very good although on a nittaky violin you have to brush it well.
To hit with tenergy is great to, you can place the ball where you want it, and blocking is no problem at all to although you might hve to adjust your angle a bit deu to the speed and the medium high throw angle, i cant wait for the 64 wich is softer and even more controllable they say.

The Tenergy 05 Black 2.1 mm is a great sheet of rubber for the looping player. Its best used on forehand since it has a high throw and its really spinny. I extremely like it because it is so easy to counteract different kinds of spin, especially underspin, with its high throw. I just do a normal loop with Tenergy and it will counter even the heaviest underspin, of which i could not counter with other rubbers. It is a great choice for the intermediate to advanced players, but is not a great rubber for novices. This is a must-try for more experienced players!

One of the latests best rubbers by butterfly. Itīs spring sponge is quite hard, and control and spin are great. Itīs feeling is more alike than best chinese rubbers, but Tenergy isnīt not Tacky, just very grippy. Itīs best characteristics are durable, and superb for short game, blocks, chops, services and returns, but isnīt slow at all. However, Itīs not as fast as others brands rubbers with "built in speed glue effect" but it has a better balance, and much more control. Donīt think this is Commom chinese rubber by BTY, itīs an alive rubber that doesnīt neeed to be reglue.
The weak points are that it isnīt affordable at all, extremely expensive for a TT rubber and also weights really much.

For me, the best Butterfly rubber for the glue-ban era.

Finally! I answer to all my praiers considering a rubber that actually felt like it was glued, without being soft and mushy like he...y! It also has spin! That's not usual for rubbers with built in speed glue effect. It has a strange sponge, it feels hard in the short game, but softens up when you put more power into a shot (like looping). Good sound, actually really great glue feel (it's not like glued up mambo, which explodes like a firecracker, but it actually feels like a glued up hard rubber) and really spinny when needed. It's a little fast when it's brand new (I play it on a Maze OFF) but it slows down after a couple of days, and plays great! I'm struggling a bit with getting the spin I want on serves, but it pushes and loops great! I had to adjust to blocking with it, it was very springy, and had a very high throw compared to glued Bryce, but after a while it went smooth. Now I can't wait to try out the Tenergy 25 which should come to my house in about a week!

Since the release of Tenergy in April, I have used over 6 different sheets of Tenergy 2.1. As usual from Butterfly, the quality of the product is very high.

The topsheet is VERY grippy, probably the spiniest non Chinese top sheet I have ever used. I was hooked onto this rubber with my first hit. This is truly a one of a kind rubber, during a loop, the ball sinks in very nicely into the sponge and catapults it back with massive amounts of spin and plentiful speed.

The rubber has a very high throw angle, making it very easy to loop kill underspin balls, but that also increases the difficulty in counterlooping.

This rubber costs $65 retail in the US, but it is worth every cent, it is much more durable compared to the $45 tensors. This IS the ultimate glue substitute (so far).
