Timo Boll ZLC (Butterfly)

Timo Boll ZLC (Butterfly)

By blending the new ZL Fiber with the industry leading Carbon Fiber, Butterfly technicians were able to produce this light weight powerhouse of a blade. The Timo Boll ZLC offers the traditional feel and power of Carbon but the flexibility of the ZL Fiber holds the ball longer on the blade than traditional Carbon blades. This increased “dwell time” allows the ZLC blade to produce both maximum speed and spin. This is a perfect blade for the power attacker who likes to both loop and smash to win points.

ZLC of the timoboll series is aa lot feel like the other ZLC, mjun and amultart. in terms of speed probably the tbzlc is teh slowest. control wise, i would say it is the best. it is really good for driving, counterdriving, blocking, and counterlooping (when i mean drive i mean kind of a sidespin countersmash mechanistic hit). the weigth is much lighter though, which is one of the things i do not like. it is too light, so you can not get lots of power on your loops like you can on amultart. it is really not a blade for me, not to mention it is very expensive as also. so it depends on you style.

Dropped over $200 on the Chinese Penhold version of this blade. It's more of a collector's item but I've been playing with it for the last 3 weeks. The blade is of typical Butterfly high quality control. I've used another Zylon Carbon blade before (Mizutani Jun) so I will compare those 2 blades.

In terms of speed the MJ is a bit faster than the TBZLC. But what sets the TBZLC apart from the MJ is that it is much more linear in terms of the way the ball travel when stroked. It's perfect for my Chinese short pips hitting style. The ball travels a flat arc, making flat hits very precise and dangerous.

The weight of the blade i received was 86.2 grams.
