Smirnov Ultra Carbon (Donic)

DONIC SMIRNOV ULTRA CARBON Alex Smirnov is one of the "shooting stars" of European Table Tennis. He has developed into one of Europe’s top players in a very short time and he has beaten nearly all of our top players at International Pro Tour Tournaments. It is therefore a must for DONIC to present this new wood. The trend in table tennis is for players of all classes to search for faster woods to improve the power of their game with the 40 mm ball. SMIRNOV ULTRA CARBON enables the excellent technician, Alex Smirnov, to play with extreme power and unbelievable precision.

The basis of this power is the use of a new type of Carbon. The unique properties of control are achieved by using specially chosen plies of wood. The playing characteristics are guaranteed by the special lamination of plies. Uncompromising attackers have dreamt of such a blade since the introduction of the 40 mm ball.

i've only just put two srivers on this blade and i have just had a play with it. compared to my old blade (Bty Petr Korbel) it is a lot faster, and has a different feel that is quite hard to explain but it feels like the blade travels alot quicker through the air and also has an even better feel that the all wood Korbel. This is a great blade for good speed but also lets you have great spin with the right rubbers. the quality seems good, but only time will tell how good. The blade is outstanding value for money as i got mine for just

A weird blade at first, but once you get to know you understand it. This blade makes you play active like Smirnov himself. Passive blocking is hard, active blocking is very easy.

Looping is good, the soft plies give you a good feeling for the ball. Isn't the fatsest blade on the market, but still quite fast.
Short game is fine.
If you play an aggressive game, and still want to be in control this would be an excellent choice.
